Herman

Bridges came to Herman for the first game of the season. The Herman’s Boys Football soccer team were ready to play and willing to start good on their path to Championship.

First minutes were a nice back and for the field, but Herman organized better, and score two goals almost back to back. That leaded to a more steady way to control the game. By the end of the first half, Bridges was lucky that the score was just 2-0.

Second half started, and Herman Boys team took fast control of the situation scoring 3 goals back to back, and in the last minute of the game, scored the final goal that lead to the final score 6-1 Herman.

Anthony did awesome saves as goalie; Khaled, Hector, Christian, Michael, Enzo, and Niko were a solid defense; Jordi, Eli, Haruto, Ederson, Ahmad, Nathan, Darwin, Erik, Owen and Casey, controlled the middle field. Sebastian had his “Hat-trick”, Salvador scored two times, and Kevin scored the final goal.

Great way to start the season! We still have a long way to go to Championship, but it is always great have a Win at home.

Come and support the team, next Thursday at 4:30pm when we play vs. Morrill middle school.

Yesterday 4/10, Herman went to Sheppard middle school to play the semifinal game vs Bernal.

Yesterday was one of those days that “luck” is not on one side. Alas, although Herman had possession of the ball, and controlled the position for almost ¾ of the game, Herman lost 3-1. AS in any game, one wins some lose others, is part of the game.

Nevertheless, Herman Boys soccer had a great season. They did played the “jogo bonito”. This season is one to remember, not for the numbers or statistics, but for the achievements. The great plays, saves, goals. The sacrifice and the injuries. More important, for the friendship, that makes a team go to a next level.

SUMMARY FROM THE ‘HEART”

Anthony and Alejandro, team’s goalies kept their goal unbeaten for over 130 minutes.

Logan sacrifice in the defense multiplying himself to support his team mates, and his throw-ins that were as corner kicks, always dangerous to the opposite team defense.

Ben’s mobility, and great passes, and dribbling, keeping the defenders on their toes.

Sebastian, and his persistence, his dribbling, his passes and effort to recover the possession of the ball, his assist to his teammates in order to score.

Christian, as a good left-handed had to use the other side of his brain, and develop a trust in using his right leg when needed, assisting with that trust, his teammates to score.

Josh, Kevin, Andre’s goals form downtown.

Diego’s humble, dedication, effort, control, always kind, his passion for the game, the way he scored the penalty kick.

Nico’s effort, and sacrifice for the team, his perseverance, the assistant to teammates to score, and yes, the goals he scored when the team needed, he scored the “honor goal” vs Bernal, to mention one…

Andre, and his “cool” moves in the defense: his goal form “downtown”, and his Cossack celebration after that!

Who can forget Christopher hat trick and his two goals to won the playoffs game!

Kevin’s goal from downtown, his runs as left wing, his dribbling, and the sacrifice supporting the defense.

Vahan perseverance in scoring his first goal of the season vs Bridges, or the pass he manage to give to Nick with a “back-roller” kick (ask him what does that mean).

Daniel’s goals, and shots on target form distance, but also his work as pivot to help his teammates to get a straight shot to the opposite goal.

Arata and his finesse, his vision of the field, the control he has over the middle field, and his goals from outside the 18th yd., his passing, and timing, playing one level up of most of the other teams, a real Olympic Develop Player for sure!

Jordi and his bicycle kick, his goal for “downtown”, his dribbling, and vision on the middle of the field, to know when to go east to west or north to south, with that ability that the greatest Catalonian team looks for it!

Nick and his speed, his always be first, his intensity, his passion for the game, his ability to dribble, cross, sacrifice, and his positioning in the other team’s area to surprise them and score.

Josh taking roles he is not used to, play in any position needed, adjusting his role to the needs of the game, his speed to help his defense, his speed to support his offense, his assistant passes, or his goal from “downtown”, his dedication, even when he was sick.

Mateo’s willingness, dedication, quite for him was never an option, his passes, his tenacity, his passes to assist teammates to score, his injury, that created a penalty kick on our favor, but that prevented him to play the playoffs, and semifinal.

Ederson who sacrifice his offensive skills in order to support his team, as he played defense and middle field, but thanks to his effort more than once we recovered the ball on our last 3rd, his passes, and assistance to be at a better position to offense the other team, and to help teammates to score.

Owen’s crosses, shots on target, corner kicks, sacrifice in the middle field, and one beautiful goal form outside the 18th yd, his vision of the middle field, and his ability to play in any side of the field, made him an asset to the team.

Eli dedication, fearless, control of the ball, positioning, determination, made a big difference in Herman’s middle field. His passing always looking for a best-positioned teammate was awesome!

Andres’s passion, energy, dedication and sacrifice, even when he disagreed to it make him a leader of the team, who can forget his goal vs Leyva from almost the middle of the field?

I am so proud by the opportunity off coaching you, but beyond that, I feel honored for the opportunity to see your friendship growth along the season! Thank you so much for allowing me to be a witness of it!

Go Herman!

After winning their 9th consecutive game, Herman Boys soccer team will play the semifinal on 4/10/19!

Herman beat Matheson Res. middle school by a 3-2 score. Bernal is the next rival.

Yesterday, (4/9/2017), Matheson middle school came to Herman, to play one of the semifinal games of this season.

Herman boys’ soccer team were trying to keep been unbeaten, but Matheson had something different on mind.

Matheson controlled the ball and the position for the first minutes of the first half. Herman keep their ground, with some counter attacks that made Matheson goalie work to his best.

20 minutes plus have passed, and an unfortunate penalty kick call, put Herman one score down, for the first time of the season.

In Sir Winston Churchill spirit ‘in the darkest hour…you never give up, you never surrender’; and that is what Herman soccer team did. They recovered mentally, and regrouped as the team they are.

Five minutes passed. Josh made a pass to Sebastian who won the position dribbling the defender, and gave a great pass to Daniel who scored the equalizer. By the end of first half, the score was 1-1.

Second half started. Herman has the momentum of the equalizer and tried to score again, but Matheson defender well, and had some counterattacks. Herman regain the position, and the ball, and were closed to score several times, but Matheson goalie worked over time…until Christopher does a cross pass to Nico who got the ball and kicked a nice cross ball, Matheson’ goalie deflected to his right, where Christopher was, and scored Herman’s second goal.

10 minutes before the end of regulation, Matheson got a free kick, and with a little help from the wind, scored their second goal. The ghost of extra time was around the field.

Minutes left to the end of the game, when Herman took a throw in closed Matheson’s 18th yd. Once again, the wind played a trick, this time to Matheson’s goalie who deflected the ball, and once again, Christopher was there and with a gentle touch scored the final goal of the game.

Herman won 3-2 their 9th consecutive game, and will play the semifinal game tomorrow!

After wining playoff game vs Matheson
Herman 3-Matheson 2 Playoff game 4.9.2019

Yesterday, Herman Boys soccer team visited Bridges Academy, on the last game of the season.

Bridges had the urgency to win to have a chance to go to playoffs. Herman wanted to get their eighth straight game win.

Bridges presented a solid defense, until Herman got an outbreak on their left attack side, when Christopher controlled a long ball, and crossed to Nick for his first goal of the match. Bridges got the urgency to try to tie the game. That helped Herman to score for a second time. Kevin passed the ball to Nick for his second goal of the game.

Bridges keep trying, but Anthony, and Alejandro, as goalies did their best not allowing Bridges to score, well supported by the defensive players Diego, Logan, Christian, Andres, and Ederson who manage to neutralize Bridges offense. Arata, Eli, Sebastian, Kevin, Ben, Owen took control of the middle of the field, a great pass to Nick who passed to Daniel, and scored Herman’s third goal before half time.

By second half, Herman’s offense Daniel, Christopher, Mateo, Nick, Vahan, was well connected with the middle fielders> Christopher with his second assistance pass to Josh, for Herman’s forth goal of the match. Minutes later, again from the left side of Herman attack, a great pass made by Christopher, and Vahan with a lot of perseverance scored his first goal for the season. Mateo with a great effort, now from the right side of Herman’s attack, was fouled; referee called a penalty kick, and Diego scored the sixth Herman’s goal. Minutes later on a controversial call, Bridges scored by a penalty kick their only goal.

Herman ended the season with 8 straight wins; their season record is 5 wins, scored 20 goals, and only got 2 against, but as Emil Zatopek, Czechoslovakian athlete, said once: “Great is the Victory, but the friendship of all is greater”, and that is what characterized the Herman Boys team, their friendship.

Next game playoffs! Go Herman!

Yesterday (3/27), Herman Boys soccer team led by Jordi, captain for the game, went to visit Leyva Middle school. Leyva’s soccer team is having a tough season, but they were ready to end Herman’s winning streak, at their turf, which is smaller than Herman is, and with the wet conditions, the ball moved faster.

The first half was not easy for Herman. Adjusting to field conditions was not easy; Leyva had some good opportunities to score, but Alejandro and Anthony did a great job as goalies. Sun Tzu (Chinese general, military strategist, writer and philosopher who lived in the Eastern Zhou period of ancient China), said that “Invincibility lies in the defense; the possibility of victory in the attack”, and that was exactly what happened during the game. Ederson, Vahan, Christian, Andre, Logan and Diego, played solid defense and did not gave many liberties to Leyva’s offense. Jordi, Sebastian, Eli, Andres, Josh, and Ben controlled the ball in the middle field, especially at second half; that helped the offense to start putting more pressure on Leyva’s defense and goalie. Nico supported the middle field, but his perseverance as striker finally payed off, and he scored the first goal for Herman. That opened the game and soon after that, Kevin scored from “downtown”; after a great assist from Christopher, Andres with a nice cross to opposite post scored the second goal; Josh closed the board after scoring the fourth goal.

Herman won 4-0. With the win, Herman is 1st place in the league bracket.

Go Herman!

Valley Christian Boys soccer team, came yesterday to Herman trying to get their second win of the season.

Herman, led by their Arata, Boys soccer team’s captain, had different plans.

Game started, and VC team tried to counter attack, and surprise Herman defense, placing their best players as defenders. Diego, Andre, Logan, Christian, were not fooled by that strategic, and controlled VC offense. Anthony and Alejandro did not allow VC to score against them. Arata, Jordi, Andres, Sebastian, Eli, Ben, and Josh controlled the middle field, took control of the ball, and helped the offense to create opportunities to score. Daniel, Christopher, Nico, Mateo, Nick, Vahan, and Kevin where a menace for VC defense and goalie.

VC could not hold long. Christopher, Josh, Nick and Kevin scored a goal each, with great assistant from all of their teammates, overwhelming the visitor team. At the end, Herman won 4-0.

Herman Boys soccer team, are playing as Pubilius Syrus (85-43 BC), Latin writer, once said, “Where there is unity there is always victory”.

Go Herman!

Sylvandale Middle School came to play vs Herman Boys soccer team.

Lead by Josh, Herman was ready to keep their wining strike vs Sylvandale, who won their first game.

From the starting minute of the game, Herman took control of the ball, and the position on the field, passed, and moved the ball East-West, and North-South of the field. That created confusion on Sylvandale defense, and generated several opportunities for Herman to make shots on target. At that pace, it looked like Herman would score first. Herman moved the ball on their right side of the field, and got a throw-in.

Logan took the throw-in, and passed to Arata who headed the ball off, as a great pass to Christopher, who scored kicking the ball to their goalie’s right hand.

Sylvandale was pressured to tie the game, and Herman took advantage of it. Sylvandale’s goalie tried to clear the ball, but gave a great pass to Josh, who from “downtown” scored Herman’s second goal.

More pressure for Sylvandale, but Herman’s middle field, defense, and goalie prevented them for scoring. Herman kept control of ball, and middle field, Nick passed the ball to Ben, who did a beautiful pass to Christopher who scored his second goal.

Second half started the same as the first, but Sylvandale came strong with all the will to tie the game. Herman struggled, and Sylvandale scored.

Herman recovered from the goal, and regained control of the ball, and positioning on the field, moving the ball in all directions of Sylvandale field. Josh got the ball, and gave a pass to Mateo with great advantage; Mateo beat a Sylvandale defender, and gave an awesome pass to Christopher who scored his hat trick goal!

Final score Herman 4-1 Sylvandale. Go Herman!

Mahatma Gandhi said once “Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment, full effort is full victory.”.

Davis soccer team came yesterday to play the first soccer season game vs. Herman.

The boys soccer team were led by their Captain, Daniel, and got into the field ready to play and have fun, regardless of field conditions.

Herman defense was solid, and did not allow Davis’ players to perform their game. Herman’s goalies, Anthony and Alejandro, did their best every time they were challenged by Davis offense. Solid performance by the defense, Diego, Andre, Logan, Ederson, Christian, and Vahan.

The minutes went by, and Herman’s boys soccer team started to win position, thus controlling the ball in the middle field, creating opportunities to score, with great passes to the forwards. Arata, Ben, Andres, Josh, Sebastian, Eli had an outstanding performance. Herman forwards Daniel, Nick, Kevin, Ben, Christopher, Nico, keep Davis defense, and goalie busy trying to not allow Herman to score… But at the end, they couldn’t hold it for long.

In a counter attack through the left side of Herman attack, Davis struggle to keep control of the ball… Andres got a rebound, passed to Arata, who turn and kick the ball whit his left leg, and score Herman’s first goal.

Second half started, and Davis tried to equalize the score…but once again, the goalie, defense, and middle field players did not allow them to tie the score. Minutes pass by, Herman created several option to score a second goal, but Davis defense and goalie prevented to do so…until minute 25th of second half…after Davis tried to clear the ball far from their goal, Diego got control of ball, and passed to Andre, whom had some field ahead of him….he looked at goalie position, and from downtown kicked the ball…Davis’ goalie saw the ball coming, but he couldn’t stop the ball to go into his net on the very right top corner of his goal…Andre celebrated his great goal doing his Cossack dance! Minutes later, referee blow his whistle, game over! Final Score Herman 2-Davis 0.

Herman has its first soccer season win, and 4 undefeated games!

Full effort, is full victory, indeed. Go Herman!

Herman Boys soccer team went visit Russell Middle School yesterday.

Final score Herman Patriots 3-1 Russell. Go Herman!

Jesse Jackson said once “never give up, never surrender, and rise against the odds”. The Boys soccer team did that yesterday. Russell tried their best to win, but…

Alejandro, and Anthony had great saves to prevent Russell to score more than once.

Great defense played by Diego, Andre, Logan, Ederson, Crhistian and Vahan.  Andrés, Sebastián, Eli, Mateo, Owen controlled the middle field, helping with transition from defense to offense, with great passes to the offense. Josh, Christopher, Nick, Nico, Arata, Jordi, Daniel, Ben, and Kevin were overwhelming to Russell’s defense.

Nico scored a great goal with his left leg, Ben never quit, and had a great assist, after a great cross made by Andres, passing the ball back to Daniel who scored Herman’s second goal; Arata had a great assist in order for Owen take a shot to the left of Russell’s goalie, and score the final goal.

Josh had an outstanding game in the middle field, supporting the defense, and gave great passes to the offense; also Diego had an outstanding game not allowing Russell’s strikers to play their game.

Nice second pregame, let’s keep improving, and focus in next game, Go Herman!

Boys soccer team had their first scrimmage vs. Chaboya middle school.

The Herman Patriots played great together! Final score was Herman Patriots 4-Chaboya 1

The team is looking good from goalies to strikers.

Great saves from our goalies Anthony and Alejandro, with a solid defense played by Andre, Diego, Logan, Christian, Vahan. Our middle fielders Daniel, Kevin, Jordi, Andres, EIi, Ederson, play smart, and control their ground. Jordi scored a beautiful goal form far outside the 18 yd! Our strikers, Nick, Ben, Owen, Nico,  Mateo, Christopher, Sebastián, kept Chaboya golies busy, and scored 3 goals!

Still a long way to go, but it was a great beginning getting ready for season.

Go Patriots!
